I've always wanted to create an image featuring Nephele. Nephele is a figure from Greek mythology and a cloud-like manifestation of Hera.
I found it fascinating to see how a woman could be depicted using clouds. Last year, I had already made a few tentative attempts, but they all failed in one way or another. It was simply too difficult to draw a recognizable shape that also looked like a cloud on my sketchpad.
But now I've found a combination, (interesting to me, at least) of transparency, lightness, and yet a well-defined form.
To emphasize this, I gave her armor to create a contrast between hard reality and a fluid void. However, the armor also made her look a bit like Pallas Athena. I liked the idea of creating a blend of Athena and Nephele right away.
