Stretching the canvas<\/a> onto a stretcher frame<\/a> is generally very easy, but the corners are always a critical point. Here you often have the problem of creases or bulges because the cutting was not done correctly. So, you can now avoid this frustration in future when stretching your canvases. I have written a short guide on how I stretch the canvas at this critical point. I hope it helps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stretching the canvas around the corner - step by step<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First we have to mark a relatively large corner. I use a red colored pencil to make the line clearly visible.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Extend the first short line to the outside on both sides so that you have a right-angled triangle.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Cut off the marked triangle with scissors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Now fold the canvas in slightly and draw a vertical line along the corner (up and down in the picture). Then unfold the canvas again and extend the new line to the edge.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Draw a second line at an angle of approx. 90\u00b0 up to the edge. You have now drawn the smaller \"secondary triangle\".<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Now cut off the \"secondary triangle\" again with scissors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Fold everything together, stretch it a little by hand and staple it to the stretcher frame.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
